Friday 29th September
WCCS 2023 was a great success inviting speakers from across the country. Speakers included Dr Beatriz Lara (University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust), Dr Justin Garner (Royal Brompton Hospital) and Dr Andrew Chadwick (Oxford University Hospitals). Alongside these fantastic external speakers we had updates on Pulmonary Hypertension from Prof Jay Suntharalingam (RUH Bath), Dr Gemma Hayes on all things fungal and Dr Phil Mitchelmore discussed phage therapy. We also hosted Rachel Williams a Consultant Respiratory Physiotherapist who took us through respiratory integration in Cornwall. Congratulations to Dr Jenny Rossdale for winning the Research and Innovation Prize with her work on the inflammasome in systemic sclerosis.
WCCS 2022
Friday 30th September
We were thrilled to host a brilliant line up of speakers at our 2022 meeting, with talks on innovations in airways disease from Dr James Dodd (Bristol), Professor Tom Wilkinson (Southampton), Associate Professor Ben Ainsworth (University of Bath & Southampton). We had excellent updates on ILD from Professor Michael Gibbons (Exeter) and on the BTS from Miss Sally Welham, BTS Chief Executive. Along with our Research & Innovation session, we had a great session on lung cancer from Dr Will Ricketss (St Barts & Royal London Hospitals) and a stimulating discussion around the South West regional lung cancer screening programme presented by Dr Anna Bibby, Dr Vidan Masani, Dr Cyrus Daneshvar & Dr Anthony Edey. WCCS AND RCP ANNUAL MEETING 2021
Wednesday 6th October
After a year without an annual conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were thrilled to hold a face-to-face meeting again with excellent speakers from around the country, including Professor Najib Rahman (Oxford), Professor Gerry Davies (Liverpool) and Professor Andrew Fisher (Newcastle). We also heard from our regional experts Dr Steven Walker, Dr Sarah Mungall and Ms Eveline Internullo, along with regional training and research updates. WCCS AND RCP ANNUAL MEETING 2019
Friday 18th October
In 2019, the meeting included excellent sessions on bronchiectasis, sarcoidosis, occupational lung disease, CT screening for lung cancer, the National COPD and asthma audits, and integrated COPD care. Our speakers included Dr David Smith (Bristol), Professor Ling-Pei Ho (Oxford), Dr Joanna Szram (Royal Brompton and Harefield), Professor David Baldwin (Nottingham), Dr James Calvert (Bristol) and Dr Louise Restrick (Whittington). Our 2017 meeting included presentations on Pleural Disease, Sleep Medicine and Inflammation in the Lung, with talks from Professor Nick Maskell (Bristol), Dr Rahul Bhatnaga (Bristol), Dr Anna Bibby (Bristol), Professor John Stradling (Oxford) and Dr Helen Lachman (UCL).
